Motheater by Linda H. Codega

I wanted to like this book more than I did. It really either needed to be more fantasy or more realism for it to really work.

My Rating: 3 out of 5 stars

Part of a series or Standalone: Standalone

Genre: Fantasy

Tropes: Magical Realism, Protecting The People from Corporations, Waking up the Land, High Stakes, Paying the Price

Things I liked: The hook of this book really had me reeled in!

The feats that Motheater and the other witches in the book were really cool to read about.

Things I disliked: This book is way too short. I wish it was two books. One covering the past and the other covering the future.

I was also more curious about the magic that was in this book. It would have been cool to understand the rules a bit of the magic used.

I'm sad the author didn't draw on the actual history of the Appalachians themselves. There's so much history with those mountains that I would have loved to read about it.

Audiobook or Physical? I read the physical book, and the cover is very pretty!

If any animals are abused, die, or are killed in this book: There's a baby opposum that is used for a spell. Just watch out for when she put the little guy in her pocket.

Extras: Switches between Bennie's and Motheaters POV's
