A Memory Called Empire by Arkady Martine

This book will draw you in with its poetry and then have you ensnared into a whole new experience. I'm really excited to see what these characters will do in the next book.

My Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Part of a series or Standalone: #1 Teixcalaan series

Genre: Sci-Fi

Tropes: Ambassador, Planetary Politics, World Building, Fish Out of Water, Poetry, Who Can You Trust

Things I liked: I really liked the idea of having our ancestors lead us in such an intimate way. That way, skills and knowledge wouldn't have to be lost.

It was refreshing to have a Science-Fiction book, with the main character being a female!

I really liked the way romances were talked about in this novel. It seemed so natural that certain characters had been together or might be together.

Things I disliked: It was pretty slow at the beginning, but there's a lot of world building being done.

Audiobook or Physical? I listened to the audiobook, which I felt was the best since I got to hear how the various names were pronounced. Amy Landon does an amazing job with all the voices in this book!

Extras: Mahit's POV
