Funny Story by Emily Henry

This book is filled with romance. We learn so much from each character! Daphne shows us that we can all heal, grow, and be loved. Miles shows us that we should be able to trust ourselves. Ashley shows us what a truly great friend looks like and that new connections can be stronger than old ones. Julia helps us see that devotion is good, but we should always make our choices for ourselves even if that seems hard on the others around us, but they will understand if they are true.

My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Part of a Series or Standalone: Standalone

Genres: Romance

Tropes: Fake Dating, Broken Up, Roommates, Opposites Attract, Family Drama, Friends to Lovers, Complicated Situation, Looking to Escape

Things I liked: I loved all the characters in this book. Almost everyone seemed like a person that I would want to be friends with.

Daphne was super easy to root for, I found myself quickly invested in how she was going to get out of this mess but also wondering why she would wanna run away from Miles.

Miles! The author did such a good job of making a dreamy guy. He was such a sweet guy.

There was a decent amount of spice in this book! But it didn't take away from the plot of the book.

Things I disliked: I’m petty. I would have loved to see Petra and Peter suffer.

Audiobook or Physical? I listened to the audiobook, Julian Whelan always does such an amazing job with anything involving romance. I also really liked her when she narrated The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah. I also just saw that she narrated Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V. E. Schwab, which I’m super excited about!

Extras: Daphne’s POV, it looks like there are some plans to make this one into a film, so keep an eye out!
