Starfish by Lisa Fipps

This book shows that a shift in perspective really can make a huge difference. I felt really emotionally invested in Ellie's struggles right away. I found myself getting mad on her behalf many times in the book. If you want to feel deeply, then this is a perfect book to pick up. Since it's so short, it's a really positive pallet cleanser.

My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Part of a Series or Standalone: Standalone novel-in-verse

Genres: Fiction

Things I liked: The story was really easy to follow along, and since the book was so short, it was easy to binge it.

The main character is easy to empathize with, sometimes if feels like the awful things being said to her are being said to us, which just makes it so impactful. You feel like you are there with her on this journey of self-discovery.

Things I disliked: I was so invested in Ellie's life that I would have loved to continue following her on her journey.

Audiobook or Physical? Audiobook was really good! Jenna Lamia does a really good job narrating the book.

The impact of poetry read out loud is really felt in the audiobook.

Extras: Ellie's POV, debute novel in verse
