Dark Rise by C.S. Pacat

This book should be our generations Epic Fantasy!! Its amazing! I really hope more people read this cause we need a movie! Everything that happens would be amazing to see on the big screen! Cause the movie in my head was pretty epic! If you want world building, high stakes and well written characters pick up this book.

My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Part of a Series or Standalone: #1 in Dark Rise series

Genres: Epic Fantasy

Tropes: Fate vs Free Will, Old Legends, Reincarnated, Good vs Evil, High Stakes

Things I liked: I honestly can't believe this book isn't THE next Epic Fantasy, cause this is on the same level as Lord of the Rings, Eragon, Wheel of Time and/or Game of Thrones.

We have everything here! Brave men and women trying to hold off a seemingly unstoppable Fate. A whole world system wherein old legends are brought to life. Unique old legends that start to unfurl and happen before our eyes.

Something that happens a lot in this book that I love is the characters show us their good nature's, they show us that kindness is not always punished and that working together even if theres only 2 or 3 of you can turn the tables even for just a little bit.

Some of the characters names are very fitting and when they use them throughout the book the timing is perfect! Just *chef kiss*, when you read it you will understand why I don't wanna spoil this with more details.

Things I disliked: I cannot fathom why nobody is talking about this book! Its so amazing!!! It will be my mission in life to make sure people read this book!

Audiobook or Physical? I listened to the audiobook, which was so good! There were so many parts where the voices of the characters conveyed their joys and sorrows. It was amazing! I actually might reread it as a physical book cause I'm obsessed with this series.

Good Quote(s):

"Kindness is never a mistake," said the Elder Steward. "Somewhere in the heart it is always remembered."

"When the past is forgotten, then it can return. Only those who remember have the chance to stave it off. For the dark is never truly gone; it only waits for the world to forget, so that it may rise again."

"But which of us is ready for what life asks us to face? We don't choose the moment. The moment comes whether we will it or no, and we must make ourselves ready."

If animals are abused, die or are killed in this book: Lots of horses that are trained for war do die but its war so its not out of nowhere at least.
