This was such an amazing palate cleanser. I had a lot of terrifying fun reading this. I was always sitting down with the book and telling myself "Okay Trisha what are we gonna do now?" This is a good book for anyone who wants to start reading King but wants something more bite-sized.
My Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
Part of a series or Standalone: Standalone
Genres: Thriller, Psychological Horror
Tropes: Lost in the Woods, Imaginary Friend, Coming of Age, Baseball, Unreliable Narrator
Things I liked: I loved how intimate the book felt. It was like us and Trisha vs. this forest. I personally felt so close to her and was rooting for her from the beginning.
I liked how the baseball innings were the chapter titles. It really added to the story. Making it easy for us to see how long the journey would be, and if you knew more about baseball, it was helpful to know when plot points would happen.
Things I disliked: I would have really liked to see how she fit back in with her family now that she was back. I wanted to see her family appreciate her!
Audiobook or Physical? I listened to the audiobook Anne Heche did an amazing job, I really believed that she was Trisha.
If any animals are abused, die, or are killed in this book: There's a few graphic scenes where we see animals either dead in the forest or when Trisha does what she needs to, to survive. They are pretty obvious and easy to skip if needed.
Extras: Trisha's POV
