Wildflower by Drew Barrymore

I'm not really sure what I was expecting but I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I've always really like Drew Barrymore since we have the same kind of natural hair style. So it was nice to see someone with hair like mine who played soft spoken well dressed women in media. This book was a fun read every chapter was an adventure since I had no idea her life had been so full.

My Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Part of a Series or Standalone: Standalone

Genres: Nonfiction, Short Story collection

Things I liked: It was really sweet to hear her talk to her daughters. You could really feel all the love she has for them and that her main audience was them.

She has led such a interesting life, it was really cool to hear about all her adventures and mishaps.

She was very honest with her inner dialog which I found very validating to listen to at times. If Drew Barrymore sometimes thinks those things then its okay if we all do at times. Its human!

Things I disliked: There were some parts where she was basically screaming and that was rather unpleasant at times.

Audiobook or Physical? I liked the audiobook a lot which Drew Barrymore read herself!

Good Quote(s):

"It's ironic that we rush through being "single" as if it's some disease or malady to get rid of or overcome. The truth is, most likely, one day you will meet someone and it will be gone. And once it's gone, it's really gone!"

"My dad. I don’t really know where to begin other than to say he simply wasn’t a “dad.” He was this mythical creature. Part unicorn, part violent storm. And although he separated from my mom when she was pregnant, I somehow knew to forgive him. It’s as if I could grasp as a kid that this horse was so wild, he couldn’t be pinned down, and even if he could I am not sure you would want him around. This was the kind of man you saw in small doses. They were memorable. Sometimes dark, sometimes humorous, sometimes quotable."
