I was very satisfied with this addition to the universe! It was filled with strong romance notes as well as big acts of heroism. It's really nice to read a story where you can really sit back and relax as the heros do their thing and shake up the world.
My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
Part of a series or Standalone: #2 in Saint of Steel series
Genre: Cozy Fantasy, Romance
Tropes: Magic, Nuns, D&D world, On the Road, Gladiator fighting
Things I liked: Clara was such a neat addition to the roster of characters.
We got to see more of the B plot from the previous book get resolved, and I really liked that a lot. Gave previous readers an extra gold star for reading the first book.
Things I disliked: This one was a slow starter for me. It might be because we started with Clara's POV, which she was more a stranger since we know a bit about the Paladins at this point in the series.
Audiobook or Physical? Audiobook was amazing!! There's a good amount of humor in the book, and the narrators make sure the timing is perfect!
Good Quote(s): "Perhaps. But it also means that we love our friends enough not to put them in situations where they will be called upon to do things that they cannot do."
“Don’t you have nuns where you’re from?”
“We have lots of nuns. That’s why I’m scared of you.”
If any animals are abused, die, or are killed in this book: There's a gladiator pit with a bunch of animals trained to attack people, so there's a lot of animal violence.
Extras: Clara and Istvhans POV
