I love cozy fantasy! This book is a perfect example of that. Two women want to spend their days in peace. However, dragons, queens, and bandits have other ideas for the two.
My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
Part of a series or Standalone: #1 in the Tomes & Tea series.
Genre: Cozy Fantasy, Romance
Tropes: Run Away Together, Hiding Behind Anonymity, Sapphic, Small Town Community, Simple Living, Community is more than a word
Things I liked: This book was really fun! Both main characters are really strong, interesting women. I liked getting to know Reyna and Kianthe, especially as they learned more about each other.
There was a really strong plot going on here, as well as excellent pacing throughout the book.
Things I disliked: I always wish books were longer, I'm such a sucker for cozy books especially.
Audiobook or Physical? I read the physical book, which I got when we went to Vegas last year at the famous Writer's Block bookstore. The pages are teal tinted on the edges.
Good Quote(s): "Time with Kianthe had taught her that asking for help wasn't weakness, and now she was embarrassed the ideation ever entered her mind."
"Magic's like - a mug of tea. Fill it up with one kind or another, but the capacity's limited."
"There was something pleasing about having productive conversations, rather than burning bridged with fiery emotion."
If any animals are abused, die, or are killed in this book: A few animals are killed by griffins for food.
Extras: Switches between Reyna and Kianthe's POV.
